[ Speaking Chinese ] -[ Laughs ] [ Conversing in Chinese ] [ Conversing in Chinese ] -[ Laughs ] ♪♪ -[ Speaking Chinese ] -[ Laughs ] -[ Laughing ] [ Toy rooster crowing ] -"Wuhan Wuhan" is a feature observational documentary that goes beyond the salacious headlines of Wuhan the city as the epicenter of a coronavirus and really zooms in and focuses on the humanistic portraits of five story lines, a handful of participants, as they experience the unknown virus in February and March 2020, which was really the first wave and the peak of the pandemic at that time in China.
It's been two years almost plus since the beginning of the pandemic, and I think a film like "Wuhan Wuhan" that is not dissimilar to our own experiences here in North America.
And I think that the thematic tone of the story is really about how we deal with extreme situations of crises and how we can come together to help each other through those crises.
And I see that happening not only through the film with the individuals we followed, their selflessness, but also just through everyday stories here in North America, and I've been encountering that in how people have been gracious and helpful to me and to my family in these really extraordinary times.
But if anything, I'm hoping that this film offers a moment of reflection and a moment of reassurance, perhaps, that everything might be okay.
