And on his guys, for the care.
Yes.
Wow.
they were the only competitive show ski team in the state.
So that sets us apart from any other teams across Indiana.
the thing that makes our shows particular unique.
we take all of the disciplines like trick ski wakeboarding, slalom, skiing, they're putting jumping and we put that all into one show and and put music with the costumes.
So it's truly unique.
it's really fun to be out there on the water.
It's a really fun experience something you can't match.
You can't prepare for it.
still just as fun as my was.
we invite anyone of all ages to participate.
It doesn't matter how old they are, what their skill level is.
We bring them in and if they want to try something, we try to accommodate them.
we train them up.
And a lot of our skiers have come from, you know, learning how to to ski to being professionals here now.
So basically we start, you know, at the end of last season in October, really more September, just trying to figure out what the theme was going to be.
kind of just asked a lot of people around, watch it, a lot of movies So from there we decided on Top Gun there's 13 acts in the show the show lasts about an hour when we're in competition and we have to do all of our show within 60 minutes.
Anything that goes over 60 minutes does not get scored.
And then from there you start developing lines and choosing your characters and thinking about your talent and picking music and costumes and sound effects essentially it's an entire theatrical production.
You just have a water component to it as well.
I mean, there's so much that goes into it, May through August, we're doing two shows a day.
And then we're out here a practice another two times a week, putting in three plus hours so much that goes into this that a lot of people don't even see and and.
So I was looking it made all of the hard work worth it.
I mean, the countless hours of just hard work and time away from my family and everything, like it just made me so proud.
It's truly an indescribable feeling.
there's always ebbs and flows.
So, you know, we usually it's like we'll have an awesome year and then we'll get out a little bit, but then we'll come back up.
And every time we come back, we always come back stronger.
Like, this is where our team is finally like it paying off.
our team is and just such a great position right now.
It's really exciting.
it's been a it's been a long journey to get to where we are today.
We started out with about 20 members.
And, you know, I said now we're up to 150.
I remember a time when our team was down to like six members and then you'd have somebody come in and that person would help you develop into the next phase.
So for me, it's it's been really a a growth in making a lot of friendships and not just here locally but across the nation you know shows people here.
I have met some fantastic people all over the nation.
And you know, it's it's really been a great experience.
26 shows a year, we have two or three tournaments, we're looking at 12 to $15 million financial impact for the season for the local community our national tournaments probably coming and going There might have been up to 10,000 people over the weekend.
plus our shows.
We do free for the public so people can come out as family, doesn't cost them anything.
They can come out and watch a really great show for an hour.
It's just great family entertainment I get out here about 5:00 and a lot of times Caleb and I are just strategizing in things until 11:00 at night.
So and then during the day, you're answering, you know, texts and calls from various team members.
You're writing and rewriting shows because this person got sick, this person got hurt.
This person is not going to be there.
All those things, I mean, I then I put in 40 hours a week I actually my three year old niece is on the team in our show, we have like a bird strike skit where like the birds have like picketing signs And her favorite thing.
She practices her waves.
She does everything like so we really have a spot for everyone.
So from three up until we've got members in their families.
I mean, you're going 30 to 40 miles an hour and it really just gets you going, especially on jump.
It's like I just want to fly.
kind of like, you know, it's like.
Right, Yeah, Yeah.
I mean, deep down nice.
Did you guys hit series there?
sorry.
stuff.
Brooke Gaynor, beautiful game.
we got 14th place last year at Nationals, at Division One Nationals, and then to come in and get to kind of ski at our own site, we worked really hard this year to get to a fifth place and it was just definitely one of those.
We didn't want to end up like, you know, having 14th last year.
We wanted to improve and we definitely did more than that.
We over delivered on that.
So that's really nice.
I think we're within the next five years.
I think we're looking at a top three, if not a first place finish.
Actually, I was dating someone who was a member of his team and his kids were on this team.
And so the kids actually are the reason why I got started.
I'm like, You guys do this all the time.
Is this all you ever do?
And they're like, Yeah.
And I'm like, Okay.
And they're like, Well, if you want to hang out with us, you've got to be here skiing.
we had a lot of work ahead of us in the beginning because we had to come up with a lake that we this video, we had to come up with equipment that had to, you know, be able to do the shows with.
I grew up on a lake.
My mom and dad were both avid skiers and we came out here to do a couple of really well, world famous, I guess, bare footer.
We kind of did a press, kind of a press release type deal on during one of the shows.
And so it's my first show seeing it at eight years old.
And I saw it and I letter to my mom.
I want to do that and I think I do it next week.
So
